Knee pain is a very common issue that affects many people.
There are many potential causes to knee pain but here is a great exercise that benefits most people.
The Peterson Step-up is a simple exercise that can be done at home or in the gym BUT it’s deceptively challenging!
See my Youtube channel for a full demo:
It’s highly effective for activating and strengthening your VMO which in turn helps to correct patellar tracking issues and reduce pain.
Start with a low step and bodyweight only (raise step height before adding weight).
Align the heel of the supporting foot with toes raised - slightly ahead of the toes of your working leg.
The working leg (on the step) will be slightly bent, heel raised, with your weight on the ball of your foot.
Slowly push through the ball of your exercising leg and let your heel touch the step.
Use a wall to balance if needed.
Start with 2 rounds of 12 reps on each side.
I honestly think anyone would benefit from this exercise so give it a try and let me know what you think 😊
